Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Fernwood Vista Construction is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for subcontractor invoices, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around permits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to subcontractor invoices, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with subcontractor invoices. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Wichita. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
