Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Harborlight Rook Financial is a financial-services company in Raleigh. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around vendor spend against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to payment disputes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with payment disputes. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Raleigh. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
