Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

We are growing our team at Nova Umber Inspection Services Associates and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Independence and accuracy are our product. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around scheduling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with certifications. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
