Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Ironwood Cobalt Early Learning runs childcare centres in Anchorage caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meal programmes, and clear open items. • Track costs around classroom supplies against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with meal programmes. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Anchorage. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
