Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Bright Iron Markets serves neighbourhoods around Providence with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. We like people who know our customers by name. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pricing, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around online orders against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Providence. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
