Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Fernwood Pine Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Albuquerque. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with treatment plant data. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Albuquerque. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
