Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Bright Vista Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for treatment plant data, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with treatment plant data. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Houston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
