Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Harborlight Timber Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around Virginia Beach. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around classroom supplies against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with family communication. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Virginia Beach. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
