Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Summit Loom Insurance Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Detroit, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 158 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with premium billing. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Detroit. • We reply to every applicant.
