Accountant - accounts payable (Providence, RI)

Nova Thistle Construction is a Providence contractor with project managers, trades and support staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Good people move up quickly. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to permits, and clear open items. • Track costs around safety records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with permits. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Providence. • We reply to every applicant.
