Accountant - accounts payable (Providence, RI)

Harborlight Hollow Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Providence, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Weather sets the schedule, and we plan around it. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with field records. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
