Accountant - accounts payable (Providence, RI)

Nova Mill Freight is a Providence logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around proof of delivery against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with dock schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
