Accountant - accounts payable (Providence, RI)

Fernwood Ashton Foods makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Providence, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ingredient orders, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with ingredient orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
