Accountant - accounts payable (Providence, RI)

Rivermark Amber Early Learning runs childcare centres in Providence caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Children come first and so does looking after the teachers. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around licensing records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Providence. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
