Accountant - accounts payable (Providence, RI)

Lumen West Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Providence, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Providence. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with customer tracking. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
