Accountant - accounts payable (Orlando, FL)

Fernwood Lakeside Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of Orlando. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Orlando. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
