Accountant - accounts payable (Omaha, NE)

Fernwood Lakeside Telecom builds and runs fibre and wireless networks in the Omaha area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 47 people based in Omaha. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around network equipment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with billing accounts. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Omaha. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
