Accountant - accounts payable (Omaha, NE)

Fernwood Cedar Inspection Services provides independent inspection and testing for industry across Omaha, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around test reports against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with certifications.
