Accountant - accounts payable (Oakland, CA)

Nova Field Markets serves neighbourhoods around Oakland with fresh food and everyday goods, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to supplier deliveries, and clear open items. • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with supplier deliveries. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
