Accountant - accounts payable (Oakland, CA)

Redstone Pike Auto Group Partners operates automotive service and parts businesses around Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Customers come back because we explain what they need and what they do not. What you will do • Track costs around customer estimates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to warranty claims, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with warranty claims. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Oakland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
