Accountant - accounts payable (Oakland, CA)

Fernwood Juniper Care Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for client records, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 957 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Track costs around visit scheduling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with client records. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
