Accountant - accounts payable (New Orleans, LA)

Lumen Vale Markets Group serves neighbourhoods around New Orleans with fresh food and everyday goods, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around shrink and waste against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to online orders, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with online orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in New Orleans. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
