Accountant - accounts payable (New Orleans, LA)

Cedar Willow Construction is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for project schedules, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 61 people based in New Orleans. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around subcontractor invoices against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with project schedules.
