Accountant - accounts payable (New Orleans, LA)

Rivermark Wilder Markets is a New Orleans retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with pricing. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
