Accountant - accounts payable (New Orleans, LA)

Cedar Wren Energy delivers power and gas plans across the New Orleans region, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with outage response. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in New Orleans. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
