Accountant - accounts payable (New Orleans, LA)

Clearpath Cedar Foods produces packaged foods at its New Orleans plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 232 people based in New Orleans. What you will do • Track costs around allergen controls against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to sanitation schedules, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with sanitation schedules. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in New Orleans. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
