Accountant - accounts payable (Nashville, TN)

Ironwood Bright Water Authority Partners supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Nashville and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Nashville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
