Accountant - accounts payable (Minneapolis, MN)

Highbridge Pike Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for underwriting files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 36 people based in Minneapolis. What you will do • Track costs around catastrophe response against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with underwriting files.
