Accountant - accounts payable (Miami, FL)

Nova Cedar Hospitality operates hotels and event venues around Miami. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Guests remember kindness. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around housekeeping schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Miami. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
