Accountant - accounts payable (Madison, WI)

Northwind River Construction builds commercial and industrial projects around Madison. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 66 people based in Madison. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with change orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Madison, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
