Accountant - accounts payable (Madison, WI)

Redstone Drift Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Madison. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Track costs around proof of delivery against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with customer tracking. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Madison. • We reply to every applicant.
