Accountant - accounts payable (Madison, WI)

We are growing our team at Foxglove Rook Manufacturing and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Many of our supervisors started on the floor. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around production lines against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to scrap and rework, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with scrap and rework. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Madison. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
