Accountant - accounts payable (Madison, WI)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Wren Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 125 people based in Madison. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with dock schedules. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Madison. • We reply to every applicant.
