Accountant - accounts payable (Louisville, KY)

Harborlight Fern Inspection Services Group is an inspection company in Louisville with field technicians and lab staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Independence and accuracy are our product. What you will do • Track costs around certifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client sites, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Louisville, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
