Accountant - accounts payable (Knoxville, TN)

We are growing our team at Cedar Manufacturing and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Many of our supervisors started on the floor. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around work orders against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with scrap and rework. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Knoxville. • We reply to every applicant.
