Accountant - accounts payable (Jacksonville, FL)

Stonegate Union Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for fleet maintenance, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fleet maintenance, and clear open items. • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with fleet maintenance. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
