Accountant - accounts payable (Jackson, MS)

Stonegate Corner Learning Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for enrolment, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We follow the school calendar and we like people who like learning. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to enrolment, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around learning materials against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with enrolment. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Jackson. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
