Accountant - accounts payable (Indianapolis, IN)

Harborlight Field Housing is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for waiting lists, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Housing is our mission and residents are our neighbours. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to waiting lists, and clear open items. • Track costs around rent assistance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Indianapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
