Accountant - accounts payable (Indianapolis, IN)

Bright Juniper Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Indianapolis, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 563 people based in Indianapolis. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to grower contracts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with grower contracts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Indianapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
