Accountant - accounts payable (Indianapolis, IN)

We are growing our team at Nova Junction Water Authority Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 16 people based in Indianapolis. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Track costs around pipe repairs against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with treatment plant data. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Indianapolis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
