Accountant - accounts payable (Houston, TX)

Silverline West Arts Center runs a venue and education programmes in Houston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. • Track costs around event logistics against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with visitor services. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Houston. • We reply to every applicant.
