Accountant - accounts payable (Houston, TX)

We are growing our team at Amberfield Basin Banking Services Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Houston. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around deposit accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to card disputes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with card disputes. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Houston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
