Accountant - accounts payable (Houston, TX)

We are growing our team at Summit Wilder Construction and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 41 people based in Houston. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around permits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with project schedules. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Houston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
