Accountant - accounts payable (Honolulu, HI)

Amberfield Lakeside Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Honolulu. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Honolulu. What you will do • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Honolulu. • We reply to every applicant.
