Accountant - accounts payable (Hartford, CT)

Cedar Kestrel Financial is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for loan applications, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Trust is the product, so accuracy and clarity matter. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loan applications, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around account servicing against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Hartford, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
