Accountant - accounts payable (Hartford, CT)

Amberfield Corner Auto Group serves drivers and dealerships across the Hartford region, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around customer estimates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service appointments, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with service appointments. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Hartford. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
