Accountant - accounts payable (Hartford, CT)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Ivory Hospitality and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. We work weekends and holidays and we make it fun. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food costs, and clear open items. • Track costs around guest bookings against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with food costs. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
