Accountant - accounts payable (Hartford, CT)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Keystone Transit Planning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
