Accountant - accounts payable (Hartford, CT)

Harborlight Lakeside Telecom is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for customer tickets, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 66 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around outage reports against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer tickets. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
