Accountant - accounts payable (Grand Rapids, MI)

Stonegate Ashton Banking Services Group provides everyday banking and small-business lending around Grand Rapids, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Most people here started in a branch and stayed. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fraud alerts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around account openings against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with fraud alerts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Grand Rapids. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
